My kids are anxiously counting down the days until Halloween. And I am anxiously counting the days until the Halloween Costume Fairy arrives at my house with the intricate costumes my kids are asking for this year. What? Not going to happen? Then how on earth am I going to get 2 Star Wars characters, a Buzz Lightyear, and an as yet Undetermined Mythical Creature outfitted by the end of the month? I am the first to admit I'm a last minute kind of girl, but this year I'm actually thinking ahead and realizing there is no way. So what did I do yesterday? Go to FabricLand and spend more money on fabric and a pattern for a Jedi cloak than I could have spent on the entire Jedi outfit from a costume discounter. Because for some reason I'm still clinging to the belief that Halloween costumes must be homemade. That's not to say I haven't bought them before, and I'm going to be ordering one Clone Trooper outfit this afternoon - I freely admit that one is way beyond my capabilities. But some part of me insists that my sewing machine be taken out of the closet at least once a year, and this year it's going to be for a Jedi cloak. This may also be beyond my capabilities, but I'm giving it a go. The Halloween Costume Fairy can take care of the rest.
