Guilt Trip Master

All This Week's Warren, Watchung, Green Brook & Long Hill Kid Activities

By Roseann Sicola, Macaroni Kid Warren September 18, 2014
My 2 year old started preschool last week. He had to be pried crying from my arms, and I spent the rest of the day feeling guilty.  "Maybe he's too young," I thought.  "Maybe I shouldn't have put my need for 6 free hours a week ahead of his need to be with mommy 24/7."  When I picked him up, they said he did fine, but the guilt still nagged.  My husband took him to school this week.  According to him, tiny tyrant walked to the door, saw his friend, dropped his coat and walked in without so much a a backward glance.  No, "no no no school for me" from the moment they started up the school driveway.  No, "home, home, home".  Nothing - not even a "see ya later." So yes, my 2 year old is playing me like a fiddle, and I'm now wise to his tricks.  So next time I drop him off, I'll only feel guilty for an hour instead of a whole day. Stinker.
