Corey says that when her son Josh was three, she signed him up for an after-school martial arts enrichment class at his preschool, Mountain Top Preschool in Warren. "One night we went out to dinner at The Cafe in Bernardsville. The waitress spoke Spanish, and my daughter told her "I speak a little Spanish." The waitress turned to Josh, and asked, "Do you speak Spanish too?' He said, "No, but I speak a little karate." And that is how I got the idea for The Three Ninja Pigs! After that, Ninja Red Riding Hood was just the logical follow up."
You may have seen Corey around town cheering on her kids on the soccer fields, doing author visits at Central and Mt. Horeb School, or at several Ninja events at the Warren Library, most recently with Frank Paul from Impact Martial Arts. Not so surprising, she and her family love Japanese food, and Corey actually lived in Tokyo for a few years as a young child, which she says may have influenced her idea to set her Ninja books in Japan!
