Marvel's AVENGERS S.T.A.T.I.O.N. & The Art of the Brick

Review of Discovery Times Square Museum

This past weekend we were guests at the Discovery Times Square Museum where we toured Marvel's AVENGERS S.T.A.T.I.O.N. and The Art of the Brick.  We had a great morning, and my 8-year old said that it was one of the best museums he'd ever been to!

If you are fans of the Avengers movies and the television show, S.H.I.E.L.D., you will love this exhibit.  My husband and I are both big fans, and we are looking forward to going back without the kids!  The exhibit is completely interactive, and the kids loved getting to test their strength and skills against those of Captain America and testing their DNA against that of the Hulk.  Our favorite part was getting to become Iron Man!  My kids have never seen the live-action Avengers movies, so I was not sure how they would take to the Marvel exhibit.  I needn't have worried!  My oldest is 8, and while a couple of the interactive opportunities were a little advanced for him, in general my 8, 6, and 4 year-olds all enjoyed themselves.

The Art of the Brick exhibit was also a hit.  Famous works of art and sculpture are recreated with LEGOs and despite never having seen the originals, my kids loved seeing these creations and finding out how many LEGOs it took to create each piece!  The hardest part was having to keep reminding them not to touch!

The Marvel exhibit is there through January 5, and The Art of the Brick will be open through September.

We had an easy drive into the city on Saturday morning, and there is a convenient parking garage right across the street from the Discovery Times Square Museum, which is located at 246 West. 44th Street.    The tickets to the exhibits are timed, and I would plan for about 2 hours if you'd like to see both Marvel Avenger's S.T.A.T.I.O.N and Art of the Brick.  (There is a third exhibit as well, Body World's Pulse.) Strollers are not allowed, but there is a baggage check where you can leave them, and changing tables are available on the third floor bathrooms.

I received tickets to these exhibits for review purposes.  The opinions contained in this article are my own.
