Fourth of July Festivities! Find Out Where to See Fireworks, Parades

While our local towns are not having Fourth of July celebrations this year, there are a few celebrations nearby where you can take the kids for fun and fireworks!
 
New Providence - New Providence's Independence Day celebration this year will take place on July 3 on South Street with DJ John Souren providing music.  Roving entertainment by Juggler Will Shaw will provide fun for all, and there will be "Chalk on South Street" for kids of all ages to create art on the street. Fireworks  will begin at approximately 9:30pm, and South Street will close at 7pm from Gales Drive to Springfield Avenue for people to enjoy the festivities.  For more information, call 908-598-2532 or go to www.npbpa.com.  
 
Summit –  Summit’s 67th Annual 4th of July Celebration is at Soldier’s Memorial Field on July 4th, and begins with a flag raising at 9:45am, followed by a Children’s Bike Parade at 10am.  After the parade, there will be a children’s music concert with Polka Dot.  From 10am- 1pm the will be rides, ponies, crafts, & carnival attractions for the kids.  Rock and Roll music by The Kootz takes place from 11:30am to 1pm, the Fireworks Food Court opens at 6pm with an assortment of great food vendors. Music by the Cameos will begin at 7:45pm, and the grand fireworks display starts at 9:15pm.

Bridgewater – The Somerset County Parks Department will present activities at North Branch Park on Millstone Road in Bridgewater on July 4th.  The evening of Americana, patriotism, music, and family entertainment is from 5pm - 11pm, and will include performers, historical reenactments, children’s games and activities, plenty of food, and a sensational display of fireworks at 9:30 P.M.  Music will be by Philadelphia Funk and Fillet of Soul and admission is free! Call the Somerset County Park Commission at 908-722-1200 for more information.  Parking will be at Raritan Valley Community College.
 
North Plainfield – North Plainfield will be holding their Fourth of July Parade at 10am on July 4th starting at North Plainfield high school and going through the Borough to Borough Hall Parking Lot on Craig Place. However, their concert and fireworks display will be held on July 12th at the West End School Field on Greenbrook Road.  The concert begins at 7pm and fireworks will follow.  www.northplainfield.org.
 
Going down the shore?
 
Jenkinson's in Point Pleasant will have fireworks at dark on July 3rd & July 4th, and Seaside Heights will have them on July 4th at 9:30pm.  There will be fireworks in Beach Haven at 9:15pm at Bay Village on the 4th, and Lavallette will have fireworks on July 6th.
