State Theatre presents
The Ugly Duckling & The Tortoise and the Hare
Light Wire Theater
Mon, February 18, 2013 at 10:30am, 1pm, and 3:30pm
Through the high-tech wizardry of electroluminescent wire, two great storytellers—Hans Christian Anderson and Aesop—literally light up the stage, as their characters glow, float, fly, appear, and disappear as if by magic. In the tale of The Ugly Duckling, children learn about personal transformation and acceptance through a young bird searching for friends to love him for who he really is. Another famous ‘underdog’ story, The Tortoise and the Hare, reminds us that “slow and steady wins the race.” Along with the stunning visual effects, the performance features puppetry, narration, dance, and music in a variety of styles.
Presidents Day is Family Day! Enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of family-friendly entertainment! Adding to the festival atmosphere is our unique venue—the Hub City Big Top—set up on Livingston Avenue in front of the State Theatre. Under the Big Top families can enjoy food, FREE face painting and balloon animals, live characters from popular children’s shows, and more.

Most times it is a catch up day to just relax and enjoy each other's company, but every-now-and-then, we like to do something special and take the kids to a fun place to play or to see a special show, if we can afford it.

My son loves to go to Chuck e Cheese's on his day off from school. Since my husband and I both work full time and have such busy weekends full of errands and activities, taking him to Chuck e Cheese on an off day is a real treat!!

We usually spend the day with our cousins. Weekends are busy with activities/games but a day off is great for family time...nobody has specific plans.

During any free day, we either do a nature hike/walk or spend it with our cousins and grandparents.

A day when we are all home together is a very special treat. Having no plans and being spontaneous are what make these days extra special. Cooking a hearty meal & tasty dessert top off the day. Hugs and kisses all around are the icing on the cake!
Have your say
