Bird Seed Ornaments

By Jody Lynn Chin, Publisher Mom December 7, 2011

This is super easy -  actually easier than I thought it would be!

Here is what you need:

  • One packet Knox Gelatin (found in the baking aisle in the grocery store, it comes in a box with 4 packets)
  • Bird Seed - ¾ cup
  • Water - ¼ cup
  • Ribbon or string that you want to use to hang the ornament
  • Cookie cutters or muffin tins

Just pour the package of Knox Gelatin in a small pan, mix in the ¼ cup water,  heat up on low until the gelatin is dissolved.  Then just mix in the ¾ cup bird seed.  If it is runny, just put in a little more seed.  Then just stuff your mold ½ full and put in your string or ribbon.  Fill it up all the way and pat it down so it is all the way full and let stand.  I did put mine in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.  Finally, just pop them out and hang.

You can give them as gifts or just use to keep the kids busy.
