I realize that it is not Fall, yet, but it feels like it. The first day of Fall is September 23, but if you look around New England, the leaves are already changing. Here's a perfect activity to welcome Fall.
Up until this point, we have kept our distance from lacing cards. Although I've tried them once or twice, I don't think my daughter was too interested. But we can't argue that lacing cards do help to improve a child's hand/eye coordination, as well as, their fine motor skills, but sometimes when working with preschoolers, you may have to adjust activities so that they are age appropriate, and this may be one of those activities.
Material:
- Construction paper (brown, red, orange, yellow)
- Glue
- Hole punch
- Ribbon or string
- Glue stick
Instructions:
- Draw or trace a tree trunk using the brown construction paper.
- Draw or trace some very colorful Fall leaves.
- Punch holes in the leaves (for younger children, punch larger holes).
- Show your children how to thread the ribbon through the leaves. (Please never leave children unattended with ribbon or string).
- Once the ribbon is through, tie a knot in the ribbon, and have your children glue the leaves to the tree.
And once your done with this craft, have fun searching for leaves, and apples, and pumpkins, and everything else that is so festively Fall.
