Paper Bowl Jellyfish

By Maggie Mackay August 17, 2011

We just got back from the beach, so we're making these these jellyfish that Maggie came up with this week to remind us of our summer vacation!   - Roseann

What you’ll need…

Paper bowl

Hole punch

Squares of tissue paper

Glue

Small paper plate

Paintbrush

Googly eyes

Ribbon

What to do…

Turn the paper bowl upside down.

Using the hole punch, punch several holes all around the bottom edge (the lip of the paper bowl).  I made six total.

Cut ribbon to make one length of ribbon for each hole you punched.   Pull one ribbon length through one hold and tie a knot, so the ribbon won’t slip back through the hole.  Do this for each hole.

Squeeze some glue on a small paper plate.  Show your child how to brush some paint on the bowl (using the paintbrush) and then place a few tissue paper squares over the glue.  Continue this until the entire top of the bowl is covered.   Your child may choose to do rainbow colors or one solid color.

Glue 2 googly eyes on the top of the bowl.

Now you have a jellyfish!
